Wargaming adds a new temporary game mode to World of Warships as well as a few aircraft carriers that bring a new dimension to naval warfare.
Airship Derby is the new limited-time game mode in World of Warships that will pit two teams against each other as they attempt to get their airship to their destination before their opponents.
The airships themselves are in the air and cannot be damaged, as they gain altitude when enemy ships enter their danger zone. When ascending, however, the airship will lose speed, meaning it will arrive at its destination slower than the opponent.
Thus, both teams of warships will be tempted to enter dangerous areas in order to gain a tactical advantage, which should lead to some fast-paced destruction games. The team that delivers their airship to the destination first wins.
Meanwhile, another addition to the game are the two new super aircraft carriers, bolstering British and American naval powers. Brits will have The Eagle, home to some of the most advanced aircraft of the 1950s, including jets that ushered in a new standard for achievable airspeeds.
On the US side, there’s a ship that’s been recreated from unfinished blueprints from 1949, which means we’re on the verge of sci-fi here as WoWs offers a glimpse of what might have been in an alternate timeline.
These two ships will carry two types of squadrons – standard and the new tactical squadron. Jets can quickly cover long distances and deliver quick strikes against enemies.
