There’s no way to truly show the gratitude we have for the brave men and women who serve in the United States Armed Forces. In this ever-changing world, it is more important that we salute and support our military and those who have chosen to sacrifice themselves for our freedoms.
Sailor Braeden Hitcome, a native of Forestville, New York, is one of those we thank this week. Seaman Hitcome, grew up in a military family and has a passion for service. Hitcome attended Forestville High School and graduated in 2020. According to a email we received from US NAVY:
“I joined the Navy because my dad was in the military, so the military runs in the family and I wanted a foot in the door to get into law enforcement,” Hitcome said. “I knew there would be a lot of travel and I always wanted to serve.”

The USS Gerald R. Ford is one of the largest warships in the world and, according to the NAVY, is one of the most vital weapons/vessels the United States has in its fleet.
USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) represents the first major investment in aircraft carrier design since the 1960s. The ship is designed to support new technologies and a modern air wing essential to deterring and defeating the nearby adversaries in a complex maritime environment.
Thanks to Seaman Braeden Hitcome and all who serve or have served. As the brother of a United States Marine, I am also grateful for the sacrifices families make when loved ones answer the call to protect and serve.
