The press office said the crew of the Soobrazitelny corvette hit a simulated enemy anti-ship missile. Live fire was carried out with the use of the ship’s Redut air defense missile system.
The Soobrazitelny is the second Steregushchy-class corvette ship (officially known as Project 20380) built for the Russian Navy at the turn of the 21st century.
The Steregushchiy class, Russian designation Project 20380, is the newest class of corvettes being built for the Russian Navy. Designed by Almaz’s Central Maritime Design Office, the following vessels were built to an improved design (project 20381), incorporating the SAM Poliment-Redut system.
Poliment-Redut is the latest on-board air defense weapon that helps warships create a safe zone around sea and land installations within a radius of several hundred kilometers.
It currently has three types of vertical launch anti-aircraft missiles: 9M100 short range, 9M96E medium range and 9M96D long range (120 km). Modern technical solutions offer great efficiency, in particular the combined sighting system (initially the missile is guided by radar, then the homing head lights up).
