Haenel is based in Suhl / Germany, the company has developed and manufactured a new generation of sniper rifle systems specifically designed for use by police and military forces. The locking concept sets a standard in terms of ergonomics and modularity. The rifle can easily be adapted to the shooter’s needs and the situation – without the use of tools.
The RS family has been developed to meet the requirements of the professional user. Haenel has full production control of all key components of the RS family rifle system. The barrel, breech and breech are all produced in the cooperative of the Suhl Arms Alliance. The ergonomic concept is based on a gun tipless adjustment with the help of “quick” adjustments. The butt can be adjusted not only in length, but also in height.
The cheek rest, which is also height and sideways adjustable and allows use by left and right handed shooters. The precise trigger action can be adjusted for tensile strength, trigger pull, longitudinal position and traction. (Adjustable trigger weight: 10 – 20 N.) The pistol grip adapter (style AR 15) allows the user to choose from a wide variety of different pistol grips.
The modular concept is based on universally recognized interfaces for accessories; from the pistol grip adapter to the mounting rails for sights and accessories (NATO STANAG 4694). A STANAG 4694 Nato rail is milled into the system housing, allowing maximum precision with low line of sight. Another STANAG 4694 Nato rail is integrated at the bottom of the frame in front of the handguard.
The RS-8 Compact and the RS-8 Subsonic are designed to fire the 7.62 Ã 51 NATO and .308 Winchester calibers. The RS9 is chambered for the caliber 338 Lapua Magnum. The RS-8 Subsonic variant uses a special subsonic ammunition with heavy cartridges.
