More than 250 Belarusian servicemen will take part in the “Vostok 2022” strategic command and staff exercise, which will begin on September 1. The Russian Defense Ministry disclosed the details. A total of more than 50,000 military personnel from SCO and CSTO countries will take part in the exercise. More than 5,000 pieces of weapons and military equipment will also be involved, including 140 drones and 60 warships and other military vessels. The exercises will take place at seven training fields in Russia’s Eastern Military District, as well as in water areas and coastal areas of the Sea of Okhotsk and the Sea of Japan.

“The exercises are aimed at improving the skills of commanders and headquarters in the management of inter-service and coalition task forces during the repulsion of aggression in the direction of the East, increasing compatibility and the level of interaction during the joint tasks of the coalition force groups in preserving peace, protecting the interests and ensuring the military security of the states of the eastern region. The exercise is not directed against any state or military alliance in particular. They are purely defensive in nature. The exercise will last seven days. In addition to Belarus and Russia, the military of 11 other countries will participate in the exercise.
