An investigation is ongoing and police have yet to release the name of a person killed in a snowmobile accident.
the Rome Police Department says emergency responders were called to Snowmobile Trail 72B for an accident report at approximately 3:41 p.m. Friday, January 28, 2022. The trail runs parallel to Ridge Mills Road on the east side of the street.
A caller, according to police, reported that the snowmobile driver was seriously injured.
the Rome firefighters and AmCare Ambulance emergency personnel responded and were brought to the scene of the accident by a passerby. Rome’s PD reports that “CPR was already underway” when they arrived.
The snowmobiler was taken to Rome Health where he was pronounced dead.
The Rome Police Department’s Detective Division, Forensic Unit, Snowmobile Unit and Drone Unit are all investigating this incident and the Rome Police Department says more information will be released as soon as possible. that they will be available.
The name of the slain snowmobiler will not be released until family members have been notified.
At this time, police are not disclosing possible causes of the crash or contributing factors.
The rescuers thank the people present on the trail who intervened on the scene.
